post 4. running

been running regularly for the past 2 months or so. actually was just planning to join the perth city to surf this year, but a friend just emailed me a whole list of marathons that we can join, starting in june and lasting till august. lol. sounds crazy but i agreed. so yeah, extra motivation to keep running.

been running at this park near my house, which is usually where the neighbourhood dogs get their exercise. good thing about australia, the dogs are so well-trained that i can sprint full-blown past them and know i will not get chased down and chewed out by a vicious chihuahua. back home, i wouldn't even want to be in the same field as the dogs, not without being wrapped in bubble wrap. and the best thing is, if i get bitten back home, i will probably get blamed in some obscure way for triggering the dog attack and probably end up paying for the dog's operation cos it choked on my hairy leg. lol.

funny thing though, you can see the dogs getting their exercise, but not their owners. itx hilarious.

shoes. wearing nike free 5.0. i think thax the full name; i'm really bad at names (eg. i still stuff up a friend's name even though i knew her for more than 2 years. get all mixed up between sarah, sharon, and, i don't know why, melissa.) the bendy shoe, i call it, cos it can bend at the toe. bought it cos the older version of it, which i had for only 2 years, wore out after i started running regularly. yep, itx gray with lurid yellow stripes. not the best design, but the best i can find about a week of searching.

to be honest, i like the older one better cos itx lighter, and i can feel more of the ground through the soles eg. i can tell when i'm running on grass, sand, soil, concrete etc.

this new version has better support and shock absorption, but i don't feel as light on my feet as before. itx still really light, albeit heavier than the old one, and itx not as flexi as before. the new one bends only at the toes, whereas the whole sole of the old one can bend.

so here's a pic of the older shoe. note the gaps at the heel. the cloth broke cos i been running uphill and on slopes. i still really like it though. itx like wearing naked shoes.

ps. apologies for the poor quality of pic. phone cam, and i have shaky hands as well. when i take pics of friends, it turns out like those eerie, blurred, "haunted" photos you hear ghost stories about.

post 3. friday the 13 (rottnest 1)

well, going to try writing up a recent trip to rottnest isle. probably going to be a multi-series post, hopefully, as we did take heaps of pics. we'll see how it goes.

so our brave little party (Kelvin, Sherly, Andy and I) set out on 13/4/2007, planning to meet up in wellington train station at 8 am, destination rottnest. yesh, friday the thirteenth. auspicious. you'll see.

after an sleep-inducing trip by train with other drowsy commuters, we arrived in fremantle and managed to find the ferry stand without any trouble, which was surprising given our go-there-and -look-around plan. tickets to rottnest cost a grand 50 bucks per head for a round trip. after coughing up that sum of money (along with a pound of flesh, blood, my spleen), hit the local subway to console meself and greedily consumed a bacon and egg sub. crispy bacon and gooey eggs, all wrapped up in a warm roll. mmmmmmmmmm. itx almost impossible to screw up bacon and eggs.

so here's a picture of andy, sherly, and kelvin. no, itx not a giant strawberry head in the picure. itx kelvin. ^^ lol. i should stop teasing him. no, itx not obvious since he got his hair cut. i apologize, kelvin. ^^

so here we are at the quay waiting for the ferry. for 50 bucks, it better come plated in gold. or fly.

okay, only one picture of the flying ferry. i thought we had more. but well, we forgot i guess. we forgot lotx of stuff, as you will see. so here it is, the wonderful flying ferry that will transport us to rottnest.

itx white, itx sharp, itx fast, and mostly blocked by our heads.

i lied. it doesn't fly. it transforms into a robot and carries us across the water to rottnest.

so after being carried in the robot's arms like babes across turbulent waters, we arrived at rottnest. and we forgot to take pictures again. supposed to take pictures of our departure, arrivals etc, but we forgot. we are very forgotful ppl. but i will do my best to describe it.

itx very nice, sunny, and crowded, even though itx a week day.

by this time, itx past ten already, even though we left perth at 8. most of it was spent waiting- waiting for the train, waiting for andy (who tends to wander off ^^), waiting for the ferry, waiting for the ferry to fill up (which took ages cos they wanted to fill it to the max like a slave ship. supposed to leave at 0915, didn't leave then 0945). went looking for bike rental and there was this ridiculously huge line, which we did not take a pic of again. more waiting ensured.

and more waiting, during which we observed:
  1. a kid on a trainer bike screaming for his mom; she's next to him.
  2. same kid screaming for his mom cos his bike wouldn't move (feet not on pedals, legs not moving)
  3. kid screaming for his mom cos he's left behind; she's half a foot in front of him
  4. more screaming for mom as kid crashes into bike post
kids. ^^ i should add that both kid and bike survived the incident without major harm.

finally got our bikes. poor sherly, she was the only one who couldn't get one with gears. i didn't even know there existed bikes without gears. and the bikes were heavy too.

still, we got our bikes and were finally ready to explore the isle. time: past eleven.

ps. much thanks to kelvin musa for the use of his wonderful digital camera during the trip, as well as loaning me the memory cards. great pics. ^^

post 2. testing out picture

well, just wanted to test out adding pictures to the blog.

hopefully, a bicycle will show up. taken at rottnest, on a dried-up lake bed. rented bike. it was so heavy. lol. at least it had gears.

had comments that itx a very lonely picture. thax part of itx appeal, i think.

post 1. disclaimer (copied)

lol.

this first post is identical to the first post in my friendster blog, which will be pretty much dead. since the friendster post said all i wanted to say, decided to just copy and paste it below. yeah for computers.

hi.

first off, i do not use capitals, correct speeling or punctuation much. if that bothers u overtly, pls do not stress urself by lingering. really. there are other things u can be doing to make yourself happy.

secondly, pls don't expect regular updates. i'm just trying to corner the market on lazycat names on the internet. lol. i don't even have a digital camera so don't expect many pics.

thirdly, as above. i am not a serious blogger because i don't really believe virtual words can replace conversation. but i think blogs can help in letting old friends look me up, i guess. hmmm. i hope. well. look at pictures of me maybe. yesh, pictures without a digital camera....phone camera?

fourthly, acknowledgements to genevieve. i lied to her that i had a blog, so i had to make one to make it a not-lie. hmmm. yesh, credits to u. if this sucks big time, itx ur fault, u hear?

(edit. well, thanks to genevieve again for pointing me in the direction of blogger.com. lol. Hi there, gen! if this sucks, itx STILL your fault!)

lastly, any material posted on this website is copyrighted by me, yadda yadda. hmmm. should find out how this kind of legal things work. would suck to have your head photoshopped to some naughty pics. ^^ i've seen it happen.
